Chlamydia (STD) Æ’Ã ¦ Chlamydia trachoma is a sexually transmitted disease that is transmitted by direct contact through oral, vaginal and anal intercourse and is also transmitted to newborns through vaginal birth by an infected mother. This disease is not passed on by indirect contact, such as a toilet seat. Æ’Ã ¦ Chlamydia trachoma is biologically active in vaginal and penile secretions and fluids. Æ’Ã ¦ The usual reservoir for C. trachoma is the mucous membranes of the body found in the genital region, throat, and eyes. Æ’Ã ¦ The etiological agent of Chlamydia is C. trachomatis which has the following general characteristics: obligate intracellular parasite gram negative coccoid bacteria nonmotile intracellular does not possess a peptidoglycan layer unable to produce its own ATP. Æ’Ã ¦ The following tests are used to identify C. trachomatis: 1) ELISA test and FA test may be effective only when the bacterium is metabolically active (not infectious), these tests are used to detect group specific LPS and strain-specific outer membrane proteins 2) gram staining (negative, coccoid) 3) culture and iodine staining for inclusion bodies (used because the trachoma species of Chlamydia cannot be stained with iodine because it does not contain glycogen) 4) Serological tests that detect high titer IgM antibodies indicates a recent infection (used in adults, cannot distinguish between current and previous infections, not very useful) 5) nucleic acid probes (these are currently new and further info was not available) Æ’Ã ¦ The bacterium C. trachomatis was first discovered in 1907 by Stanislaus von Prowazek in Berlin. The genus part of the name, Chlalmydia, comes from the Greek word chlamys, which means cloak and the species part of the name, trachomatis is also Greek and means rough or harsh. This name is perfectly associated with the actions of this disease. Æ’Ã ¦ A cloak is meant to hide, conceal or even disguise; and that is what C. trachomatis does on the inside of the body, it hides, it is usually asymptomatic (no symptoms). It enters the body through mucous membranes on the body as elementary bodies that bind to receptors on the host cells and are taken in by endocytosis or phagocytosis. The elementary bodies become reticulate bodies that do not combine with the lysosome and are able to resist being digested and killed. The reticulate bodies reproduce by binary fission and change back into elementary bodies which leave by reverse endocytosis. The elementary bodies have a rough outer membrane that allows them to be resistant against  ¡Ã‚ §harsh ¡Ã‚ ¨ environmental conditions which is associated with the name trachomatis.

From a simple gesture such as greeting employees with eye contact and a smile, to more difficult maneuvers such as leading the team through achieving a difficult task, great management always understands that the workers are the most important asset to his business. Being an approachable leader is imperative to the success of a manager.When a manager is easier to approach, the business has a better chance of addressing critical issues that will influence the achievement of the goals. Leadership plays a key role in the managing of any business. Delegation skills: No one can do everything themselves nor should they ever try. Effective managers not only delegate, they know what is important to delegate and what is better left in their own hands. Some managers delegate everything and actually have little control over the operations of the business. This can lead to poor quality and sloppy ractices. Other managers are so tight with power they try and do everything alone, which is a big blunder. It undermines the staff, and sends a clear message to them not to interfere or provide input. This is missing the opportunities that can expand the business. It also goes nowhe re in developing a competent and well trained staff. Tenacity: the role of the manager is have a complete commitment to his/her business. Commitment to the goals of the organization, to the employees, customers, and also a commitment to themselves.To have a steady hand when things get tough, and the confidence to stick to the plan and follow through. When the manager takes on the role of total commitment to the business, the rest of the goals fall into place. People love success, and want to follow successful people. Confidence breeds success, and a successful manager is committed to winning. The nostalgia behind this is that Muslims equate the Western culture to the Christian religion. A Dolls House3 Essay In many literary works, there are characters in which portray both similarities and differences. In the Play A Dolls House, by Henrik Ibsen, two of the characters have many oppositions and congruencies. These characters go by the names of Nora Helmer and Mrs. Linde. Ibsen characterizes these women by describing their comparable and contrasting personalities. He does this by describing their financial situations as well as their family lives. He describes these women, as opposites while in fact there are some distinct similarities. They share many of the same values and goals. Both Nora and Mrs. Linde are strong women with a weak exterior. Nora is described as a fragile woman that has been spoiled throughout her lifetime. The men in her life, her father and husband, have taken the roll of the authority figures. Nora is accustomed to relying on men to support and pamper her. She never has a care in the world. Though she appears to be content, in her heart she is not happy. She feels th e urge to be set free to live her life the way she wants to, not they way her male authorities tell her to. A childhood friend of Noras, Mrs. Linde, shares many of the same qualities. Both women have been having recent financial problems. Nora even mentions that she had to find a job as well as Mrs. Linde. She states, Yes; odds and ends, needlework, crochet-work, embroidery, and that kind of thing (Ibsen 360). She says this as if she is disgusted by the fact that she must work to survive. Her husband gives her the idea that he is there to provide for her. Mrs. Lindes husband had passed away three years before and unfortunately left her without a dime. From this cause, Mrs. Linde had the same burdensome experience that Nora had to face. The two characters also have the characteristic of the desire for independence. While Nora found a way to save her husbands life, by taking him to rest in the south, Mrs. Linde had to take over the responsibilities of running a household.These women m ust have had a horrible time surviving since they were both so dependent on their husbands. Another similarity is that Nora and Mrs. Linde appeared to be significantly weak, when inside they were stronger than their husbands were described to be. Nora demonstrates this at the end of the play when she decides to leave her family and grow up. Although Nora and Mrs. Linde share similarities, they also share many differences in their personalities. Even though the two women grew up in the same neighborhood, Noras family was substantially wealthier than Mrs. Lindes was. Nora had always been pampered and waited on hand and foot. Mrs. Linde had to concentrate on raising her two younger brothers because her mother had grown very ill and had passed away. Even now that Nora has three children of her own, she still does not have a sense of responsibility. The woman that raised her (Anne-Marie) is now raising her children. Mrs. Linde, on the other hand, has no children, but had to support two y ounger brothers until they were old enough to support themselves. In the sense of responsibility they differ greatly. Also, Nora is more on the self-centered side, while Mrs. Linde is caring and an excellent listener. Mrs. Linde illustrates her tolerance and patience for listening at the beginning of the play when Nora boasts about how much money she and her husband now have. Nora brags, Just fancy, my husband has been made manager of the bank. It will be splendid to have heaps of money and not need to have any anxiety, wont it?Nora failed to realize that her friend is going through a difficult period in her life and did not have a good financial situation. Thus, showing Noras selfishness and Mrs. Lindes benevolent qualities. Nora Helmer and Mrs. Linde are characters of numerous capabilities. While they both share the qualities of strength and unhappiness, they also differ considerably. Mrs. Linde shows a sense of responsibility and ambition, but Nora does not know the meaning of th e word responsibility nor does she have any ambition.
